Dr Julia Martin is a specialist rheumatologist practising in Auckland, New Zealand.
Dr Martin completed her medical training in Auckland New Zealand, her specialist training in Sydney, Australia and further specialist fellowship training in Dublin, Ireland.
She is currently a Consultant Rheumatologist at Auckland City Hospital and was the clinical director of Auckland Rheumatology between 2005 and 2015.
She is actively involved in teaching both at a medical student and senior registrar level, and involved in a variety of local and international research projects.
Dr Martin was the first New Zealand rheumatologist to incorporate ultrasound in her day to day practice and is one of the few rheumatologists who are able to use ultrasound for diagnosis and tracking disease activity in inflammatory arthritis and vasculitis.
Dr Martin is also a Treatment Injury External Clinical Advisor for ACC and is a health practitioner member of the Health Practitioners Disciplinary Tribunal.
She is an active member of the New Zealand Rheumatology Association and the Australian Rheumatology Association
Outside of work Dr Martin is mother to two active teenagers and can often be spotted on the weekend cheering on her sons in their various sporting endeavors. She enjoys skiing and mountain biking.
